Blog Day 2005: Honoring Katrina's refugees

I'm a bit late in posting, but today is the day bloggers were to post links to 5 other blogs that they have never linked to before. In honor of the chaos, tragedy and tremendous relief efforts taking place in the Gulf area after Katrina, I chose to highlight 5 bloggers telling their stories and offering relief options.

An Angelic Journey- Katrina discusses her family connections and in a later post, tells of her husband heading back to the region loaded with supplies on a good samaritan journey.

Civil Commotion blog tells of trucks from the Florida Baptist Convention and the Salvation Army heading to Mississippi and Alabama from Florida to help with relief efforts.

Homes for Katrina Victims has grown out of Bill Hennessey's blog, Hennessey's View. This site created just today, is a forum for people offering their homes to house refugee's of the storm. Within the first few hours over 75 people had registered. Truly, many people in this country are opening their hearts and are willing to open their homes to those who have suffered so much already.

Help for Animals Displaced by Katrina is a post from Randomartdesign. There are so many animals in need. She highlights one organization called Noah's Wish.

Moniblog has a link for hurricane charities called Network for Good Charity Navigator. Visit the link for good tips on making donations.

My prayers go out to everyone affected by the devastation in the Gulf region. I know there will be much more to come in the days ahead. Please send your prayers, your good thoughts and any donations you can.

A companion, a compass and a clear focus..

“The strongest substance in the world is water because it knows how to move around obstacles.”

Being fluid is powerful, given the fact that our bodies are mostly water. We have the ability to ‘go with the flow’ around any obstacle, rather than charging stubbornly into them, or standing in the middle of the river and waiting for the obstacle to pick up and move out of our way. We are truly a stubborn species and forget to look outside ourselves and laugh once in a while! Why do we make things so difficult? Remember that it’s all about our choices. We can choose to be stubborn, resistant, etc. We can also choose to be fluid, flexible and flowing. There is strength in flexibility. What areas of your life are you more flexible with? Your job, kids, money, bills, your spirituality? What areas are you more resistant, stubborn and hard-headed about?

Knowing when to let go and flow with the current can keep you from banging into the obstacles in the middle of the river. You know how painful it is when you keep banging your head into the same thing over and over again! Think about what you are willing to release in order to experience greater flow in your life. What can you do to become more flexible? Maybe going out for a walk every afternoon, or practicing yoga or tai chi. Becoming one with your inner flow can help you achieve greater flexibility in the outside world.

Think about your relationships. Are you open and flowing with others in your life, or are you resistant to their actions or beliefs? Think about your relationship to money. Is money easily flowing in your life, or do you hold it, fear letting go of it and not trusting that more will flow in?

Money and relationships are similar energy exchanges. The energy flows in and out of the heart chakra. When you are not open to exchanges and stubborn or resistant to energy moving, it will be reflected in your money and personal relationships. When you are open and flowing, giving and receiving with ease, that will also be reflected in your money and personal relationships.

If these thoughts strike a cord within you, then there’s something you need to uncover within yourself. You may be ready to change some area of your life so you may flow more freely.

Are you flowing around the rocks, or are you stubborn and waiting for the rocks to move for you? Do you know where you are in the river? Do you need help?

An Intuitive Counselor is like a river guide, pointing out the rocks and spotting what is around the next bend in the river. An intuitive session equips you for the journey by providing you with a companion, a compass and a clear focus.

Intuitive Counseling is asking for directions before you get completely lost.

Storms of Change: Chaos from Katrina

The swirling energies from Katrina follow close behind several days of high solar flare activity. The two seem to go hand in hand, along with some very frentic energy that we all feel at some level.

The chaos from Katrina has left many homeless and many who have yet to return to access the physical damage... but the emotional swirling and energetic upheaval has already been in motion for several days.

As the storm continues it's journey north, we will continue to feel scattered, emotionally on edge, stressed and irritated. These energetic changes and emotional responses signal change within. Use this 'stirred up' energy to release old patterns, shed unwanted emotional baggage and realize the things that are truly important to you and your wellbeing.

Homes, cars, roofs, and entire buildings can be replaced. Loss of life cannot. It is in these times that we look deep within to find what really matters. That which no longer serves you can be shed, only to be replaced by something new. Creation and destruction go hand in hand as well. After destruction, something new is born, like the phoenix rising from the ashes.

There will be much healing in the days to come, but use this chaotic energies to shed and release anything that no longer serves your wellbeing. Allow yourself to get in touch with the deepest part of yourself and find out what is really important.

Carnival of Healing # 5

The Carnival of Healing is moving on and this week has landed here at Intuitive Innovations. Phylameana has worked diligently to create the Carnival of Healing and it is now in week #5.

This week's theme is subtle energy fields and energy healing. The subtle energy field of the body is a universal energy that connects us with all life. Part of our energy field or 'aura' surrounds and encompasses the physical body, and emits its own characteristics and energy signatures. When imbalance exists within the energy field, the physical body experiences symptoms. Energy healing may be a direct route to balance within, creating order and healing throughout the body, mind and spirit.

Each of the blogs included in this week's Carnival of Healing discuss subtle energy or energy healing in various ways.

Choosing Healing blog highlights an article about the 4 Little Known Secrets of Mediation, Energy and Manifestation.

The Oasis at Primal Waters talks about subtle energy indirectly by describing environments and nature. They have produced a beautiful flash movie called Lessons from Water that you may want to view. Make sure you have a few minutes to relax.

For a space that speaks to you, Intentional Interiors owner Ashley Long reads your subtle energy field to intuit and craft an interior design for your home that suits you personally. Accessing her energies from within, artist Carla Sanders channels transformational energy into her art "At the Center of the Wheel of Life".

Andy Wibbels highlights a call with energy coach Maryam Webster. She teaches EFT (emotional freedom technique) which is based on the body’s acupressure points. Find out ways to use subtle energy techniques to fight writer’s block and other limiting beliefs.

Stephanie Brail offers a Change for the "Lazy" by suggesting the use of energy healing versus struggling through our problems the hard way. Energy healing is a powerful method for change using relaxation and focus.

Debuting his blog Journey into the Self, healer George says Our Body is a Hologram of Living Light.

At
Houston's Clear Thinkers, Los Angeles based corporate lawyer, Ken Klee balances his life and practice with energy healing. "If I can do it, anybody can do it. I'm a conservative guy, a lawyer, a skeptic. I believe in verifying things. Seven years ago, I would have thought this was completely nuts. Now I'm convinced science is going to validate this. It's going to happen in my lifetime." Harnessing the mind-body connection, Klee says anyone can practice energy healing.

Thank you for attending our Carnival of Healing. Each week there are more exciting blogs to visit and knowledge to be shared.

Next week (Sept 3rd) the Carnival of Healing continues it's journey by visiting Intuitive Living. If you would like to submit your own healing blog for consideration, please contact Christopher.

Solar Flares, Sensitivity + Our Energy Fields

A friend forwarded this website page to me yesterday. This is a quote from there about solar flare activity, something I've been mentioning here recently. Take a look at the full page..

"...Quite possibly science has not given the magnetic fields we live in the importance they may deserve. Dr. Robert Becker, author of Cross Currents, has done considerable research verifying increased admissions to mental hospitals during periods of magnetic field disturbance (storms) due to solar flare activity. Sensitive individuals report symptoms during storms ranging from irritability to stomach upset and ..." Souledout.org

Working with an Intuitive Counselor: Opening the Door to Yourself

“Oh, I’ve had a psychic reading before. They read some cards and wanted to know when my birthday was and then told me I’d meet a man in the next 6 months, but I never did.” I’ve heard this from clients before. The difference is that after working with an Intuitive Counselor, they see that intuition, psychic ability and energy awareness is for so much more.

An Intuitive Counselor can open you to the things that are happening in your life right in the present moment, and then uncover core issues...

Here we go again...

Earlier today, severe solar storms hit the Earth’s magnetic field. Warnings have been issued to the FAA to warn aircraft, major power companies, NASA alerted the International Space Station and all commercial satellites.

What does it mean for us? More funky moods + added stress and fatigue- not to mention the probability of severe storms.

Empowerment: a Drive-thru Mentality?

" Growing into one's personal power does not happen overnight. It is an evolutionary process that encompasses observation, reflection, letting go, decision making, developing commitments, accepting validation, taking action and experiencing the success of responsible choices."
~ Cheryl A Maloney, " Reinterpreting Power"

Inherent power is something we all possess and indeed, we grow into it as we become more aware of its existence and it's voice. It is a process. It's interesting to me just how many people will leap to embrace their power in an external fashion, claiming in a loud, booming voice that they have rights, when they avoid or deny the existence of the inner work needing to be done to truly claim that power within.

We are a society of instantaneous results. We want a 'pill' to make it all better, we want our food already made for us at the drive up window and we want our power to be instant. We don't want to do any work to get it- just hurry up and 'hand it to me' on a silver platter. Going at hyper speed and living in the future does not foster a sense of empowerment. It throws us into the future, always speeding to stay ahead of the quiet voice within. Think about our society of fast food joints, caffiene addictions and super highways. If you're going too fast you'll speed right by the exit and miss out on your destination.

Empowerment is a process and requires a commitment from within. Slowing down and being at one with your inner voice is a good place to start. "... experiencing the success of responsible choices..", means taking the bull by the horns and owning responsibility for our actions and choices. It also means owning our power...

Solar flares + our Energy fields = Stress & Funky moods

I received this email report today. Each time we have solar flares headed towards the Earth, the Earth's electromagnetic field gets hit. Because we have an electromagnetic energy field around our bodies and we live here on the Earth, we feel the effects of the solar flare also.

I notice these eruptions causing a string of concerns and crisis phone calls from clients. Generally we can be affected in several ways- extreme fatigue, stress without apparant cause, funky moods and emotional outbursts, extremely achy joints, etc. I liken it to an unseen tidal wave that sweeps over the Earth, causing everyone to respond to the effects in a sensory way, even though the cause appears unknown.

Here's the email from Space Weather:

Space Weather News for August 23, 2005
http://spaceweather.com/

Big sunspot 798 exploded twice yesterday, August 22nd, and hurled a pair of coronal mass ejections apparently toward Earth. Geomagnetic storms are possible when the clouds arrive. Sky watchers should be alert for auroras during the nights of August 23rd and 24th. High latitudes are favored: e.g., Canada, Alaska and northern-tier US states from Washington to Maine.

Changing with the times...

How often have you noticed that the world around you is changing quickly and you need to respond differently? I have a line from a song that goes through my mind at those times, " You know it's time for a cool change...". It's usually my intuition getting my attention when things are changing within me and in relation to the world around me.

What are your signals? How do you respond?

I think about getting an iced coffee, making a list of everything that I need to get done, then find a new approach to make it happen. Of course, life does have it's own ideas sometimes!

Meditation and visualization techniques are methods I use as well. Sometimes just going for a long drive, allowing my mind to focus on the road and drift between subjects is the best mediation.
When I'm at home and focusing on meditation I use the HeartMind Breath. It's simple and powerful, allowing me to accomplish an inner clarity and focus my attention to moving forward.

Taking the Leap of Faith...

Ever had days when you were just pushing against the current and nothing would fall into place for you? We've all had 'em! The questions is what to do about them...

The act of surrender isn't an easy one for most people. It can be challenging to give in and allow yourself to simply go with the flow rather than attempting to control the river. I know- this was my m.o. for years until I spent several months focused on the act of surrender.

I used to think surrendering meant 'giving up' and that was a show of weakness and somehow negative. When I finally decided to look at surrender and truly study the concept, I realized how wrong I had been in my perceptions. Surrender is not a show of weakness, or negative. Not in all cases anyway. Surrender can be a show of courage and an act of faith in the flow itself. It's that big word called TRUST.

Think about this the next time you are faced with one of those days.... think about Taking the Leap of Faith

It's like walking in Jello lately...

What to do when the world seems to be moving slowly? That is the $20,000 question this week.

Have you noticed that the world has been in slow motion these past 2 weeks? Yes, there was a Mercury retrograde happening, but it didn’t seem to move any faster once Mercury went direct. What’s that about?

Sometimes there are larger energy forces at work in the Universe. Energy is always cycling and with it, we also cycle. When the Universe is in ‘slow motion’ then we have a tendency to be in slow motion as well.

Lately there is a great change underway and many have commented on it with me in sessions, and in personal circles. This great change, whether it was instigated by Saturn’s shift into the sign of Leo, combined with all the outer planets, plus Mercury all retrograde simultaneously, is a doosy. There is an undercurrent of energy stimulating us to go deep within.

The results of that energy, or I should say, ‘the symptoms’ of that energy are: feeling extremely tired for no apparent reason, feeling ‘heavy’ or ‘stalled’, feeling slightly depressed, can’t seem to ‘get out of your own way’, unusual dreams, waking up more tired than when you went to sleep, etc.

These are all symptoms of extreme energy shifting. My saying to everyone this week is: “This too shall pass.” I suggest that you simply give in to the energy and to the fatigue. Get some extra rest, be lazy, drink lots of water, don’t push yourself too hard, do other things to have fun, take your mind off your issues, and above all, know that this is NOT personal.

When the energy shift has completed its cycle, things will ‘let go’ and suddenly start moving at a very fast pace once again. Think about the image of a top spinning very rapidly in a clock wise direction. Then, suddenly is slows down, comes to a complete stop and begins to slowly start turning in a counter clockwise direction. Think about how long it took for it to slow itself in one direction and then slow completely to turn and go in the opposite direction. This is what we’ve been doing on a much larger scale for the past several days.

It is not a personal issue, but a planetary one. The feminine energy, Gaia or Mother Earth, has been undergoing many changes, and this is part of her change. Look around you and recognize that there have been ‘feminine’ energies in chaos and transition over the past several weeks. This change has been building, and we seem to be in the midst of it right now. Giving your self permission to move slowly for the next few days is important. Do not pressure yourself or ‘guilt’ yourself for not moving fast enough. It shall pass.

So, be gentle with your self, get extra rest and know that things will be moving very rapidly in a few days….

Many Blessings of good energy & high spirits,

Jodie

Anger, Lashing out & Rumination... what to do about it

Learning Not to Lash Out
By Kathleen McGowan

Your boss chews you out over something inconsequential, and hours later on the drive home, you find yourself replaying her comments over and over again. And you've got plenty of time: the traffic has you inching along the highway for 45 minutes.

By the time you get home, you're seething -- at your boss, at the highway and at the world. As you stomp up the driveway, your little cocker spaniel Brownie trips you up, and you snap. You shout at her and smack her on the rump -- and immediately feel like a class-A jerk.

What just happened? Psychologists call it displaced aggression, but most of us recognize it as the kick-the-dog effect. Anger and frustration in one part of life can lead us to lash out at innocent people (or pets) in another.

When a tense moment stays with you

The key is rumination, a destructive—and common—mental habit. Rumination is what you do when you repeatedly relive an experience in your mind, replaying it, reviewing it and reinterpreting it. It plays a major role in depression -- pushing people over the edge from a temporary sad mood into a major case of the blues. The habit of ruminating can also turn a nervous person into someone truly anxious...

Add to your Tool Box:

One method that I suggest a lot for 'letting go' is to sit down with a pad of paper & pencil and write out everything tht is bugging you, all the mind drivel that keeps surging around in your head, and anger or other emotion that is there.... ( it's glorified rambling sometimes- that's ok) .. and then take it outside and burn it- safely of course.

Writing & burning is the easiest, cheapest form of therapy we have at our disposal 24/7. First we dump what is inside- out, then the burning transmutes that energy. You end up feeling so much lighter and relieved afterwards. It's incredibly freeing and you can do this as often as you want or need to.

I find it fascinating that so many people I suggest this to will procrastinate about it, put it off, finding all sorts of excuses to avoid doing it... it's that 'comfortably uncomfortable' feeling that makes them hold onto the old feeling simply because they are used to them.. and change can be scary- and definitely and unknown.

But I can tell you that once you've used writing and burning the first time- you'll use it often. It's such a powerful tool that works, you'll keep it as one of the tool in your personal tool box.

Looking on the bright side of Mercury Retrograde

A Positive Look at Mercury Retrograde:

All of the planets used by astrologers to understand the spiritual language of the cosmos have a retrograde motion. In very simple terms, this means that from the perspective of Earth each of the planets seems to backup in its orbit for a time, and then goes forward again. ..

The Act of Choosing

In speaking with clients today I saw a theme surfacing... it was about the act of choosing.

We all make choices every day. Mostly whether or not we do our chores, go to the store, do the laundry, what to make for dinner, etc. What we sometimes forget is that we have the ability to choose how we respond to others, whether we participate in their stories or dramas, and how we choose to feel. It's all about choice. Do you Choose Wisely?

In the act of choosing, we own our power within and take hold of the reins, guiding our path where we want to go. You can spend time Choosing Happiness , or you can spend your time being miserable. It's all a choice. It's up to you!

Buying in or Moving by?

Do you notice people in your life that like to create dramas? Do they like to stir up energy and conflict, adding fuel to the fire and then reveling in it?
When you've been working diligently to lessen drama in your life by creating peacefulness and calm, drama can be very noticeable. It becomes uncomfortable and it stands out to get your attention.
At times when you are on the journey to achieve more balance and peace in your life, drama comes up and tests you. The test is whether you chose to 'Buy into it' or 'Move right by it'. It's a choice. Just like choosing happiness. You can make any choice on your path. If drama feels uncomfortable to you and you've decided it's not for you, then move right on by it.
Getting tested by the Universe when your on a path of inner healing can be a challenge. It's easy to get sucked into the old pattern- especially if it is coming from family members. The test is to see whether or not you choose to see it for what it is: buying in or moving by?

Having a Relationship with SUCCESS...

Do you find it curious and interesting that as we get closer to success, we can sometimes contract, unconsiously hestitate and then back away?

It's intriguing to me that opening to expand and receive a greater flow of attention, appreciation, attraction, clients, customers, money, etc... can at times be the thing that is feared the most.

Addressing our worthiness and deserving can be one way to accept success. Recognizing that being and feeling empowered does not mean feeling 'too powerful' and 'out of control', can be another approach. Intuiting your relationship with 'success' is one of the first steps we can take to create awareness.

What is your relationship with success?

Mine started with getting on a first name basis....

What inspires you?

Looking at my pile of work for this week which includes writing my next newsletter, several new articles and updating my blog, I think to myself, " What am I inspired by? How do I write about that?"

We all have times when we feel writers block or other obstacles in our path. Inspiration is part of the fuel that helps us navigate through or around the obstacles in forward motion. Inspiration flows from deep within our spiritual core. It radiates out from within. What shape does it take? For each person it is different. For me it is different each time.

What inspires you to move? to create? to write? to live?
